Program Description

This work-at-your-own pace course is designed for K-12 grade classroom teachers to easily earn 45 professional development "seat hours" online while increasing their knowledge about Arizona grown food.  Course content will provide teachers with research-based strategies to implement agricultural concepts into their current curriculum while meeting Arizona's Academic Standards in mathematics, language arts and science, which will include nutrition.  From 12 lessons on Arizona-grown food, teachers will choose 10 lessons to modify and teach to their students. They will then report on these lessons and discuss them with other teachers taking the course. In the course final, teachers will be required to create their own lesson, teach it to their students and report.
